Located a 45-minute drive from downtown Ottawa, Canada, and just 15 minutes north of the village of Wakefield, Quebec and renowned Gatineau Park, the Lakeview Retreat offers a two-person 2-storey cottage suite hidden back in the woods at the very end of a private cottage community road, right in the heart of the Gatineau Hills. 

Your Hosts, the Wilson family, live on this one-of-a-kind property that features a private point of land with boreal forest, verdant cottage gardens, and blue water on three sides. The lakeside Post & Beam guest accommodations (in a separate building from the main house), offer everything you need for a lakeside getaway-in-the-woods. 

Made for relaxation, contemplation and low stress nature-based activities, this rustic-design loft suite features antiques, original art and the inspired work of local craftsmen; It is the perfect setting for the remote professional, hustle-weary entrepreneur, visionary writer, burnt-out Mom or career-transitioner, looking for a change of pace to recoup and reset.  

Just Be or Go Do at the Lakeview Retreat

With a soaring waterfront Great Room (including Living, Dining and Kitchenette) and Loft Bedroom with ensuite 3-piece Bathroom (with shower), your Retreat Suite features a dedicated workspace (free WIFI), private outdoor patio, and stairs down to your own swim dock, with large sun umbrella and chaise lounges. There's plenty of quiet nooks, indoors and out, to jot in a journal, stretch out and relax, or curl up with a good book.

With direct waters-edge access to swimming, kayaking, canoeing and (valid permit) fishing; shared outdoor firepit, garden seating areas and outdoor spa; onsite wellness practitioners and home to Goats in Our Garden therapy animals; nearby hiking, biking, downhill and x-country skiing, artist tours, music events and organic farm stores; this is the woodland waterscape to revive your dreams and plan your next adventure.

For dining, your are just 8 minutes away from a hamlet's general store and its popular luncheonette, and 15 minutes from Wakefield General Store and the lovely riverside restaurants of this historic village. We also offer grocery stocking of your retreat as well as preparation of a variety of breakfast and dinner menu items upon request.  Fresh organic eggs are also available from our backyard coop when our ducks and hens are laying. 

Life is Better at the Lake

At the Lakeview Retreat, the summer offers kayaking, canoeing and swimming from the retreat dock, hiking and biking in the Gatineau Park (Wakefield access). The winter offers ice skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and downhill and cross country skiing at five area ski hills. 

Fall scenery is a swath of glorious colour that inspires artists and photographers. Early spring brings the maple syrup run at local "cabanes à sucre" along with their famous French-Canadian Sugar Shack meals. Year-round, enjoy our retreat's outdoor fireplace (fire regulations permitting), as well as the outdoor hot tub and other shared guest amenities. 

Home to Goats in Our Garden therapy animals, guests have opportunities to interact with our furred and feathered residents. (Meet our grazers stabled at our nearby farm.)  Fresh chicken and duck eggs available when in season. Daily housekeeping additional. Meal preparation and grocery delivery optional upon request. 

We are surrounded by many locally-owned organic farms that have their stores open on weekends. Join in the festivities in nearby Wakefield, with shops, restaurants, festivals and events scheduled throughout the year. We are happy to make suggestions that will enhance your stay.

Our unique woodland environment, perched on a white quartz crystal domed surrounded by water, bathes you in a restorative multi-sensory experience: waves, breeze, forest pines, cedars, ferns, native plants, flower gardens, stars and songbirds conspire to take you to a place of deep inner peace where self-healing is activated.

Guests have access to our lakeview outdoor spa. Your stay also includes the detox & relax benefits of Far Infrared Sauna sessions in our private Sauna Room in the Main House - a $75/session value. Book a horse appreciation or equine-assisted wellness session: Our horses are stabled at our nearby farm.

We offer a variety of wellness modalities to support your journey, with sessions available (in-person, also remote and online for our repeat guests) in reiki and energy medicine, guided meditation and yoga. We also offer intuitive development, intuition for business, inner work life coaching, and guided dives into your unique consciousness with our signature Inner Ocean Process.
